Kochi: Kerala’s biggest hunt for the little chef came to a grand conclusion with Harshita Lakhotia from Rajasthan being crowned as Lulu Sparky’s Little Chef 2019.The winner walked away with a cash price of Rs. 50,000. The grand finale was held recently at LuLu Mall here.
Aayisha from Kochi and Nadha M N from Tirur were declared first and second runner-ups and received cash prizes of Rs. 25,000 and Rs. 10,000, respectively. The Little Chef previous edition winners Nanda J Devan, Vaiga and Moula made a special appearance during the event with entertainment sessions to encourage the contestants.
The contestants were put through a series of four rounds apart from the auditions. The five finalists underwent extensive grooming sessions under Ravinder Singh, Executive Chef of the Marriott Kochi. For the final round, the contestants were asked to prepare a four-course dinner within the time limit of three hours.
The contestants were judged on different parameters by a panel of judges, including Dr. Lekshmi Nair, celebrity culinary expert and Principal of Kerala Law Academy; Big Chef Noushad, celebrity chef and entrepreneur and Herman Grossbichler, Executive Chef at Grand Hyatt Kochi.
Open for children between the ages of 8 and 12, the contestants were invited through a series of advertisements. Interested contestants were asked to register their entry by uploading a video of 60 seconds showing their culinary skills. About 250 children from across Kerala had participated in the event and live auditions were held on 22 and 23, December 2018. Shortlisted contestants moved to the finale.
The little winners received the prizes from the judges and by Manu Nair, Manager - Business Development, Byjus; Basil Abraham, Sales Manager, Nirapara and Prem from AVT Dairy Sure.
